The Magic Pond and the Lazy Boy

The Magic Pond and the Lazy Boy

Liam and Noah were best friends.
They lived in a small village near a big green forest.

Liam loved to run and climb.
Noah loved snacks and naps.

One sunny morning, Liam ran to Noah’s house.
Max the dog ran behind him.

“Woof! Woof!”

“Noah!” Liam said. “Let’s go on an adventure!”

Noah yawned.
“Can we just eat cookies?” he asked.

Liam smiled.
“Just for a little while. Come on.”

Noah sighed, but he followed.
Max dashed ahead.

Deep in the forest, Max stopped near some bushes.
He sniffed and barked.

“Woof! Woof!”

Liam and Noah peeked through the leaves.
And they gasped.

There was a bright blue pond.
It shimmered and sparkled.

Noah whispered, “It’s glowing.”

Liam stepped closer.
He dipped his hand in the water.
It felt cool.

Liam took a tiny sip.

Suddenly, his eyes grew wide.
His feet felt light.

“Whoa!” Liam said. “I feel super fast!”

Noah hurried over.
He took a sip too.

For a moment, Noah smiled.
“It tastes nice,” he said. “Now I can sit all day and eat snacks.”

But then his legs started to wiggle.
Wiggle. Wiggle.

Noah tried to sit still.
His feet tapped.

Tap-tap.

Noah frowned.
“Uh-oh… I feel jumpy.”

Liam laughed a little.
“Maybe the pond made your body ready to move!”

Noah stood up.
“Okay,” he said. “Let’s move then!”

So they ran down the forest path.
Tap-tap-tap!

Max raced them.

“Woof! Woof!”

They jumped over a log.
Hop!

They climbed a small hill.
Up, up, up!

Noah huffed and puffed.
But he was smiling too.

Then Max got stuck in a thorny bush.

“Yelp!”

Noah ran over quickly.
He pulled the branch gently.

Snap!

Max was free.

Max licked Noah’s hand.

Slurp!

Noah laughed.
“That was… kind of awesome.”

After a while, Noah’s legs finally felt calm again.
He could sit if he wanted to.

They walked back toward the village.
The trees swayed softly in the wind.

Noah looked at Liam.
“I feel tired,” Noah said.
“But it’s a good tired.”

Liam nodded.
“That’s the best kind.”

When they got home, Noah opened his snack box.
He held up a cookie.

“Want one?” he asked.

Liam grinned.
“Only if we go on another adventure tomorrow.”

Noah smiled.
“Deal.”
