One afternoon, a hungry dog found a big, tasty bone.
He picked it up quickly and held it tight in his mouth.
“This will be my dinner,” he thought proudly.
The dog did not want anyone to take his bone. So he hurried away to find a quiet place to eat.
Soon, he came to a small wooden bridge over a calm river.
Clip. Clop. Clip. Clop.
As he walked across the bridge, he looked down into the clear water.
There, he saw another dog staring back at him.
And that dog had a bone too.
The dog stopped walking.
“That bone looks bigger than mine,” he thought.
“I want that one instead!”
He felt greedy.
Without thinking, he opened his mouth to bark at the other dog.
Splash!
His bone fell straight into the river.
The water rippled. The other dog disappeared.
The dog stared down in shock.
There was no other dog.
It had only been his reflection in the water.
Now his bone was gone.
The dog walked away slowly, feeling sad and foolish.
He had lost what he had because he wanted more.

It is foolish to be greedy. If you are not satisfied with what you have, you may lose it.
