Timmy loved art class.
It was his favorite part of the school day.
One morning, the teacher placed a big stack of white paper on the table.
“Today,” she said, “draw something that makes you happy.”
The classroom filled with excitement.
Some children planned to draw pets.
Others wanted to draw trees, houses, or bright flowers.
Timmy knew exactly what he wanted to draw.
A beautiful sunset over the ocean.
He opened his crayon box and searched for his favorite color.
Orange.
Timmy loved the orange crayon. He used it for sunsets, pumpkins, and glowing campfires.
He picked it up and pressed it gently on the paper.
Snap!
The crayon broke in the middle.
Timmy stared at the two small pieces in his hand.
“Oh no,” he whispered.
His favorite crayon was broken.
For a moment, Timmy felt like he could not draw his picture anymore.
Around him, the other children were already coloring.
Red apples appeared on paper.
Blue oceans spread across the pages.
Green trees grew under yellow suns.
Timmy sighed and looked at the two broken pieces again.
Then his friend Maya leaned over.
“What happened?” she asked.
“My orange crayon broke,” Timmy said sadly.
Maya looked at the pieces and smiled.
“Well,” she said, “now you have two crayons.”
Timmy blinked.
Two crayons?
He picked up the smaller piece and tried it.
It still colored the paper.
A bright orange line appeared.
Timmy’s eyes widened.
He tried the other piece too.
It worked just as well.
Soon Timmy began drawing his sunset.
He used one piece for the big glowing sun.
He used the tiny piece to draw soft orange clouds and shining waves in the ocean.
Little by little, his picture filled with color.
When the teacher walked by, she stopped and smiled.
“Timmy,” she said, “that sunset is beautiful.”
Timmy grinned.
He looked at the two small crayon pieces in his hand.
They were shorter now.
But they had helped him finish his drawing.
Timmy learned something important that day.
Sometimes things break.
But they can still create something wonderful.
He carefully placed both crayon pieces back in his box.
They were still his favorite.
Moral of the Story
Sometimes broken things can still create something wonderful.
